Under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA), railroad companies must ensure that their employees are reasonably equipped and able to perform assigned tasks. The employer must make sure all relevant, necessary training is given to every worker and that every employee has the right experience and training necessary to safely perform their job duties. The railroad company must also make sure job activities are supervised and work conditions are inspected for hazards. Lastly, the employer must ensure that the company’s safety rules are followed.
