CDC is the acronym for The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; it is an agency of the US Department of Health and Human Services. The main purpose of the CDC is to promote public health and safety by controlling and preventing disease and injury.  One way in which this is done is by providing and publicizing information so that individuals can make informed and health conscious choices. The CDC also forms partnerships with state departments and other organizations to promote healthy living.
