Gadolinium is a chemical element that is often used in MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), MRA (Magnetic Resonance Angiogram), X-Ray, and other imaging technology as a contrast agent. Contrast agents are dyes that are injected into the body of a patient being imaged in order to enhance the quality of the image. However, serious concerns have been raised about the use of gadolinium, particularly in patients who have pre-existing kidney problems or renal disease. In 2007, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a Black Box Warning for Gadolinium based contrast agents used in MRIs and MRAs because patients with severe kidney problems who are injected with a Gadolinium based contrast agent are at risk of developing Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis (NSF). NSF, which is also referred to as Nephrogenic Fibrosing Dermopathy (NFD), is a potentially deadly disease that causes fibrosis of the eyes, joints, skin and internal organs. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with NSF/NFD following the injection of a Gadolinium contrast agent in the course of an MRI, MRA, or X-Ray, you may be eligible to recover compensation. Fill out the form on this page to find out if you are eligble to participate in a Gadolinium lawsuit.
